Kyusu Japanese Teapot - Lacquer Tenmoku 3 piece set - White - 150ml

Kyusu Japanese Teapot - Lacquer Tenmoku 3 piece set - White - 150ml
Hand made in Tokoname, Japan by Shoryu
Built in ceramic filter
Stunning new teapot set from master craftsman Umehara Shoji , Founder of the famous Shoryu kiln in Tokoname Japan. This teapot is extremely lightweight and finished with an ethereal Echizen lacquer pattern similar in style to his other signature “yuteki” finish.
This pattern is called tenmoku named after the legendary 12th century Chinese Song Dynasty wares that featured iridescent otherworldly glazes. While a true tenmoku glaze would be thick and heavy, this lacquered surface keeps the teapot light and thin and soft to the touch.
These beautiful teapots are all made in Japan and are typically used for green tea. The smaller size of the pot allows you to pour out the entire infusion so that tea leaves can be easily re-infused numerous times. The side handle makes pouring easy and is also great for people with arthritis. Each pot contains an infuser to keep the leaves out of your cup! These are a great way to make your own tea ritual more personal.
