Matcha is a Japanese powdered tea that has been around for the past 1000 years. It is prepared with 85C water and then whipped up with a bamboo whisk. It produces a slightly foamy, vibrant green drink with a rich vegetal, slightly sweet taste. Because the leaves are not removed from the cup as in a traditional tea steeping method, but rather consumed, matcha tea contains the highest level of anti-oxidants, vitamins and caffeine. This premium grade matcha was ground and vacuum sealed in Japan for The Naked Leaf.
